XR650L- Will XR400 Taillight fit?

Recommended Posts

I took the statue off the rear fender of my bike. Can I use one of the OEM XR400 lights - they look about the same size as the fender recess. Or should I just get a UFO fender/light combo......

Thanks in advance.

Dont you mean the television set! There are several available, but few bolt right on. Just stay away from the acerbis stuff, they seem to be electrically challenged. Baja designs and xrs only carry a few different options. The latest rage is to install a crf type rear fender with a under fender mount led tail light!

Jeff,

Yours looks good but does not look like the one pictured on Procycles web site. Is there picture wrong?

its the one from that link on the thumpertalk store... looks kinda weird in that pic there but i took the leap of faith that it would look good on the bike and it does... i actually took it off already (rear fender too) because i switched to a crf450 rear fender. ill post pics of that once i get the new turn signals i ordered in...

Don't waste money... I don't understand why people assume they have to go after market for everything. The XR600R and XR650R (same part) from your local Honda dealer will cost $8 and fit the XR650L fender perfectly.

hmmm, according to the microfiche the lens for an xr650r alone is $8.73, the socket the bulb plugs into is an additional $12.05 plus theres atleast another $10 in misc parts to go with it... that after market light aint looking too bad now...

i have this one on my 650L

its the wps universal brake/taillight ordered it from the thumpertalk store :applause: just spliced the plug off the end of the old light pluged it in and went riding

+1 on the WPS light. In Virginia you need a plate light and the WPS has a clear lens on the bottom to cover that little problem. Bolted up real quick and the wireing was a breeze. Had to test the wires to see wire did what but no problem. Looks real clean.

From what I've seen the parts from the stock light don't work very well with the 650R lense. It IS possible to go with a light socket from the auto parts store and zip tie it in and just bolt the lense on. Someone in the "pictures of XR650L" thread had this done and it looked good. There is something to be said for not having to fang with some random part to get something to work. As for me I'm buying the one shown at the top of the thread because it looks larger and should put out more light than the WPS light.

That photo will be worth at least one sale:thumbsup: . I did not buy one originally because of the distorted photo and was going to go with the WPS, but this one has a licence light and appears to be more likely to be DOT.
