Which oil to use????

If you read the manual it calls for the following tranny oil for the 07 WR450

Using Yamalube:

Up to 70 degrees 10w-30

50 degree and up 20W- 50

Does not sound like there is alot of overlap. I do not like the idea of the 20W to to engine wear while it is cold and thick. How about just running a high quality 10W-40? This will cover the low temp and high temp. Manual shows 10W-40 in the lower graph but not made by Yamaha. What oil are all you running? I cannot believe that Yamalube is any better any other high quality oil.

A high quality 10/40 would be fine, or a 10/50 if it gets hot. You might want to do some reading on Shell Rotella.

I run Delo 400 in mine and my roadbike with zero clutch slippage. It is a 15/40 high quality mineral oil. In your climate though I think you are prolly better off with an initial 10.

I've been running the Maxima syn-blend 10-40 for quite a while now and it has proven to work best with the clutch issues I was having on my 04'

i use 10-40w fully synth in the uk on a wr450 05 model with no issues at all

Correct me if I'm wrong but the following page is for an 07WR450 (top graph for USA/Canadian) and it lists 10W30, 20W40 and 10W50 respectively:

Mobil1 and no problems. Didn't Rotella and Dello oils get an additive that is not good on the clutch?

If it was available in Oz at a reasonable price like it is in the States, I would use it in a flash.

Moly seems to be the main concern. Rotella doesn't have it. Delo has @ 220 ppm (parts per million). I've had no clutch problems at all using Delo and actually prefer the added peace of mind knowing moly is in there for extreme protection.

I've used Shell's Rotella 15W40 (dino) or Chevron's Delo for the past 15 years in my street and dirt bikes with absolutely no issues. The street bikes (a 1100 and a 650) go 2000 miles between changes, and my dirt bikes (WR400, XR400 and KLX 250) go 300 miles between changes and the 07 WR450 about 150-200 miles between changes. If you change the oil often enough you shouldn't have an issue.
