Keihin FCR on a XR650R

Has anyone put a Keihin FCR carburetor on the Honda XR650R?

Seems like Edelbrock is the only Carburetor ever mentioned.

But a lot of people argue the second generation FCR is the best carburetor available.

I've read of people doing it, but it seems like it's hard to get it to fit. Typically the fuel tank will require a bit of reforming to clear, and mebbe the carb installed at a bit of an angle.

Seems like I read some stuff on smj and mebbe visordown.

I had to shorten cam chain tensioner and barely graze underside of IMS tank, stock tank I used a piece of rubber innertube and jammed it between tank and frame for clearance. It is still worth the fitment issues, runs great and tons of power.

Mikuni TM40 will work as will the TMZ41 and it takes some doing but I have had a HSR42 (same as the HSR45) The TM40 was just about as strong as the FCR and just as smooth once you got it tuned right. The TM40 costs less then the others. There are a lot of TM40's out there off old Harley's on ebay. about $200 then you have to get all the new jets to make it work and the cables and make adapters. I got a XR650R kitted one for $200 and then had to rejet it (that is why it was on ebay, the kit isn't jetted right either) Edelbrock is just the best out of the box fit, porformance and adjustable so, you hear the most about it.

I tried fitting an FCR40 onto my XRR today. Besides the fuel tank clearance issue I found out that the carb is quite a bit shorter than the original carb. What is the best way to buy or make an adaptor?

BTW: Does a generic TM40 also need an adaptor or is it the same length as the stock XRR carby by nature?

Is het een oem CRF carbu? Alu Adaptertje laten draaien :banghead:

The TM40 needs adapters front and back to work with the stock front and back boots. Not a big deal to make.

So both need an adapter. Are these available off the shelf somewhere or do I need to make one myself. Being just an IT-guy I would prefer buying.
Otherwise: Does anyone already have a drawing or a design I could use when searching for a machining shop?

When you say Mikuni TM40 is something like this one?This one is for KTM LC4 640.Is it better than the stock Keihin that the XR600R uses?My stock carb is in bad shape and i was thinking to swap it for something else than the stock one..

I am no expert, but this looks like a CV carb, not a flatslide. I don't think this would be a good upgrade.

Looks like the 2003 CV Mikuni of a 2003 or earlier KTM. The 2004 KTM got the pumper carburetor.

Youre correct.For a 2001 640.Isnt good just for swapping for the XR stock carb?It haves almost ten years of development comparing to mine.
What about the Mikuni 41mm flatside that XR´sOnly sells?Good improvement?

Ah. And the shiny bits are the adapters for fitting the standard carb in an XR650R?

Is your FCR40 an "MX" model or "Racing"? With removable intakeadapter on the airboxside?

zipper, if you want a good carb for your 600R, go FCR41. i fitted the non-mx to my 650L(sorry for the cross post!). killer unit!

XR´s only is 230 us dollars with gas throttle and bla bla bla + shipping.New.
Whar about that FCR41?And how do i know is not a MX model?

the fcr mx is a straight body, the non-mx is a slant body(the one i use). they are pricey though(500.00).
