I'm right there with you - i have an 07 yz450 - I don't like to think about it but I had to make an excel spread sheet to make sure I could afford it.

adding in the fuel it takes to drive 800 miles roundtrip from Little Rock to Dallas to race with fast guys.... then it gets even more expensive. :applause:

I think you flew right by KTM territory.

But, there's really nothing on my list your KTM has and if you added all of the above to YOUR bike (I would if I owned a KTM) then the combined price would really be an eye opener.

Combined with riding gear, tires, repair parts and chemicals, and other sundry items, I'm well over 11K with my '05 in a little over a year and a half...SC

Not a cheap hobby, huh?

you forgot to count the time it took you to install all of those parts. that is time you could have spent doing something else and so you should attach a price to it and include it in your projections.

But it's been a labor of love. I enjoyed every minute doing it and don't consider the time an expense. In fact, the two hours or so I get in the garage every day after work is when I unwind and de-stress.

I hate to think what I have into my bike:banghead: A set of tires lasts two races, that's ten sets of tires just for racing!, one set of tires for each Baja trip (2x per year). I bet I go thru twenty quarts of oil and ten filters at least per year. Plus replacing hand guards, brake fins, chains, chain slider, suspension rebuilds, brake rotors and on and on....but it's worth it!!

I bought an 07 WR 450 in December. My riding buddy bought an 07 450 EXC at the same time. We both did the same mods (except where I had to uncork he had to regear) and he is about 1000 into his more than I am...and although he will never say it I think he likes mine better!!!

Be looking for me on my new 07 WR450 seabass, you going to HBMC??

Rick

Hi ya Rick!! Lemme know how ya like the '07, I'll probably be buying a new bike in the next year and that bike looks sweet!

I dunno know if I'm gonna do HBMC.....while riding last weekend HBMC caught me on their course a couple of times, but I was going the wrong way!! I couldn't for the life of me figure out why they would put such a hard uphill in their race. In 40 minutes I got about 2/3's of the way up when lo and behold the staking crew appeared at the top of the hill!! I shoulda figured it was a downhill but it looked pretty do-able from the bottom and it was the quickest way back to Anderson.I've never felt like such a schmuck!! Twenty minutes later I'm by the radio tower at Anderson looking for the downhill from last years 100's race and right as I hit some more ribbon some old timers from HBMC pull up. DOH! I figure I got a pretty good chance of gettin' DQ'd. I guess I'll save my money and do the Prospectors instead.

See ya in the dez!
