What's diff in XR600 years?

There's a 1988 for sale and wondering if anything really changed from that year to 1998?

There were a few changes over the years. Here are the high points

85-87 Dual carbs and a 17 inch rear wheel

88-90 Single carb, Nikasil cylinder, and a 18 inch rear wheel.

91-00 Cartridge forks, steel cylinder, and a rear disc

The front axle got larger in 92.

While there is nothing wrong with an 88, the cartridge forks on the 91's and on really are much better than the earlier damper rod forks.

I'd go with a 91 or newer if you can find one, unless the deal is too good to pass up. Good luck!

just grab a NX650 starter & sidecase they bolt straight on 1992 XR6 & simular yrs ?

there's other internal goodies that bolt up as well from the NX to the XR.

Are there any years that came with electric start? Seems like less trouble to track one down already equipped than to round up all the NX 650 stuff plus a battery.

None came with estart unfort

YOu cant use all NX Parts - the crankshaft needs replacing
