I have read many post and articles about aftermarket performance parts.
They make claims about performance gains and reliability being better than OEM. They are in business to make money so the claims are no suprise.

What I want to know is what are the experiences of those who buy these parts. Especialy when it comes to reliability over OEM.

I currently have a 04 WR only aditions for performance have been an aftermarket exaust and a JT jet kit. Not much to break from those items.

I am looking at a new piston, hot cams, clutch and plates. What experience do you guys have with these parts and how do they compair in both performance gains and especialy reliability.

a wiseco high compression piston (+1)=13.5:1 is the best piston out there IMO and yes it is very reliable and you get performance gains

hotcams are very reliable while giving performance gains...cams dont wear out

a dp clutch kit is great and conatins very good plates and stiffer springs...very reliable

stock things are garunteed to work but dont give added performance
the biggest names in the business dont get that way by making unreliable products
its really a no brainer to get aftermarket/high performance wear parts over stock

It depends on the part but aftermarket you get more bang for your buck. For example compare the price and quality of triple clamps vs OEM. Maybe bearing kits are better OEM.

Cams can and will wear out. The journals can be scarred and worn down part thier limits...

With a lot of hours, the teeth of it may be worn down as well...
