Best after market tank option for an 07?

Recommended Posts

Coming off a WR250 (where I got 60 mpg) I'm astonished at the mileage on the 450. Looks like I should expect 35 to 40 mpg on average. Went on reserve at 51 miles yesterday with a stock tank.

Several times a year I run multi day back country trips where it is not uncommon to go over 100 miles between fuel stops. Assuming 40 mpg I would be pushing the limits on a 3.2 gallon tank.

I've seen the Acerbis 6.6 gallon tank and am thinking I could use it for trips only.

Do any of you have experience with this (or a similar) tank? Other options?

I am in the same boat as you right now.

IMS and Clarke both make tanks.

IMS makes a 3.2 gallon tank for the YZ450, and it fits the '07 WR450,

HOWEVER, you have to then use YZ shrouds...

It appears IMS will not make a separate tank just for the WR.

At least at this point.

There doesn't appear to be any real good option at this time. Upgrading to a 3.2 only gives you maybe a 90 to 110 mile range and you have to change your shrouds. The 6.6 is bulky for sure. Guess I'll just wait and see. Until then I'll strap fuel on for long trips.

I was told at the dealer the other day that 07 WR's and YZ's share the same shrouds. Is this not true?

Here is another choice but you will have to pay dearly for it.

I still need to work on the posting pictures did it once but may have been drinking that night.

This tank will get you about 150 mile range.

And I saw that those side panel tanks now fit the later Yamaha's.

Just wondering if you put a IMS 3.1 gallon tank on a 07 wr450f will radiator braces fit still (is there plenty of room for any radiator brace to fit)

I dont want to but one then braces dont fit.

I have the IMS 3.1 tank and the Unabiker guards/braces and it all fits.
