'07 WR450 Maintenance

I'm looking for the maintenance schedule for the '07 wr450. Specifically valve adjustments and piston replacement. I live in southern Baja from Oct. to April and am looking at replacing my trusty XR400 with an '07 wr450. I ride 95% off road down here and will be setting up the bike for the Baja desert. Would some one with a new WR please share what the Yamaha owners manual recommends. Reliability is very important when you live 1000 miles from the nearest dealer and you have to depend on yourself for maintenance. I won't be back to the states for a couple of months, so any info is appreciated, thanks.

The 450 has to be one of the lowest maintenence bikes out there. Valves and timing chain only evry 1000km or so. pisto replacement should be around 3000 to 4000km.

You will probably never have to adjust valves and change the piston on the WR.
Other things will have to be replaced more frequently:

- tires, chains & sprockets, oil & filters

- chain slider

- front wheel bearings (the seals wear a groove very fast in the aluminum
spacers, I suggest that you replace the spacers with steel ones, otherwise
you will replace the bearings a lot if you ride in wet areas)

- swing arm bearings and bottom shock bearing
(it depends how often you re grease them, and wether you ride in wet areas)

- starter motor clutch (and maybe the starter motor itself or the brushes)

- radiators (get radiator braces !)

- header pipe (if you will have luck the pipe will bend itself of the
way when you'll lay the bike down, otherwise get a stainless steel header)

- water pump seal,shaft, bearing and maybe the counterbalancer shaft since
the grove in which the water shaft goes will also wear after many miles

- after many miles (>15000) the some gears will probably need to be
replaced

Search reveals this thread about stainless steel whaeel spacers, anyone know where to get some? Also does this machine also need a CS nut stainless spacer also?
