Welcome to TT. There are lots of mods for the xr650L out there. I reccomend the following. Xrs only stainless exhaust system (this is the best quality exhaust out there, is very well designed and engineered). K&N air filter. daves mods carburetor mods. IMS smog block off/removal. Regear with a 14 tooth counter sprocket. These are basic mods that will transform your bike into a fun and powerfull ride. You may also want to add a larger fuel tank for increased range, the IMS or clarke 4 gallon tank are reccomended for this. Then you may wish to add better handlebars than the honda bendamatics, I reccomend the protaper contour bars in the henry/reed bend, along with the RSW racing triple clamp and fork brace. Baja designs has some cool lights, do not use any Acerbis lights they seem to be electrically challenged (junk)These will all do nothing but improve your ride and make it a more comfortable, and safer. Heres some links.

I would highly reccomend it. You will see an increased bottom end power, also the stock header is mild steel and will eventually rust and corrode, also I do not reccomend dissimilar metals in an exhaust because the heat will inrease the corrosion factor at the header to slip on junction. Also the xrs only header is larger diameter and has increased flow capabilities. PM me and I will tell you how to get a discount on the exhaust system. These pipes are in high demand and you may have to wait a little while, they sell out fast.
