you first need to select the area you wish with the lasso, pen or even elliptical-marquee tools and make a new layer via copy, then go to adjustments - variations, and kinda play with that till you reach the desired tone you wish...
eventually it will look a bit fake, so you need to mix a bit of Hue/Saturation
in adjustments too

the real bitch is actually to select the desired area for the rims, which i actually suck at

btw, thats for the PS CS4

To select the rims (or anything with a hard edge for that matter), use the path tool. It will take some time to get used to if you haven't used it yet, but you will use it for creating good paths more than any other tool. Also, try using the Color Range... option inside the Select Menu; start with the eyedropper and expand the selection with the eyedropper+ tool....then save the selection so you can go back and paint into the selection to add to it. (it will be saved in the channels palette) Look up saving selections...

I used to work in a photo studio and dropped out full chromed out harleys from blue screens and place them on new bkgds. (this was for PaughCo in Carson City, NV if I'm remembering the name right)

The other way to colorize something is to use a fill layer above it and apply it as "color" in it's blending mode / colorize with hue and saturation / use curves.

Photoshop idiot since '96

Oh yeah...first post on the site. Looks like a lot of great info on here!:bonk:

I spent 20 minutes on this....I'm only 14 but I pretty much teach the graphic designs class (Photoshop) at my high school. I did a little extra stuff with the contrast, tone and saturation.

thas to hard, if anyone could give me just green hubs  tht would b fine thanks

Photoshop is definitely the top of the end software out of anything else offered, but it also is very complicated as the result...once you get the hang of it it's kind of fun!
