Hey guys,

I'm new to this site. Just thought I would try it out. I have owned a 2000 YZ 426 for about 4 years now. It has been about 2 years since I have ridden.

Here is the problem:

When I start the bike cold, and the choke is on, it will idle normally. However, when the choke is turned off the bike idles funky at best and more than likely quits.

If I am able to ride the bike it seems to run normally at higher RPM, but at lower RPM or idle it will not run, it just coughs and stumbles. I'm not completely ruling out carbeuration as the problem, but I think it might be something other than that.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated on this.

i would say after sitting that long i would be a good idea to tear down the carb & give it a good cleaning.it definetly sounds carb related to me.a new plug wouldnt hurt either unless youve done that already.
