Well I wanted to share a crazy little event that happened when I was asking questions about plating some of my off road bikes. I was asking to see if I could plate my 93 XR 200 and 04 crf 50 and the lady said no problem...then I got brave and asked about my 03 RM 250...she said YES...I asked " are you sure, aren't 2 strokes illegal for road use?" and she just responded...what is a two stroke ...sounds fine to me...rofl...I couldn't believe it..I am in Lewiston ID in case anyone was wandering and wants to plate, well, anything I guess...night

I got excited too when I got a plate for my non-legal 600. In theory, you need a plate to ride on FS roads so even two strokes need a plate for that. Granted, having a plate doesn't mean you are street legal, but it is the first step toward getting an MX bike ready.
Hell, in Idaho even ATVs and snowmobiles get plates and they will never be street legal.

well this is all soon to change. The law is being rewritten right now and soon quads\sleds and probably some motorbikes will no longer qualify for plates. They are however going to make it "legal" to ride OHV's on all roads that are non improved. In other words dirt and gravel roads will all be open and fair game, but you will still need a license and insurance for those roads.
