Xr600 Oversize Header???

Hi Guys,
Am intending to customise a new header pipe for my xr600(1992).Getting a stainlesssteel one.Just wanna ask if u guys know what is the suitable diameter for the header?Know that it is bigger than stock but how much bigger??Also wanna do a twin pipe output,one of each on the right and left!!What do u guys think??Any suggestion or feed back before i start on this project!!!!!!

I made once one myself aswell and the outside diameter was 40mm. My standard was about 31mm if I remember well.

BTW how was the performance of the new pipe??Any difference??
