YZ400 valve shim stuck

I was adjusting the valves. Pulled off the bucket and the shim was not on the bottom side of it as usuall. It is still stuck on the top of the valve. Can't get it out with a magnet. Anyone have this problem? Any suggestions on how to get it out.

DO THIS CAREFULLY:

Tap the edge of the spring retainer with a punch LIGHTLY. Doing this will make the retainer rock a little on the valve stem and disengage the shim. You can also use a socket. Bear in mind that if you overdo it, you can possibly also disengage the keepers, which would be bad. The other bad thing that might happen is that the shim may be launched out of the retainer at an unpredictable angle and distance.

Hold the magnet over the shim while doing what Grayracer said.

Yeah, he is pretty good with this stuff. I was going to say hold the bike upside down and shake it.

That's quite effective, but when you get to be my age, it isn't as easy to do as it once was.?
