fmf exhaust.

I am thinking about putting an FMF Factory 4.1 System on My 06 yz 450

what difference should I expect From the stock exhaust

I met the FMF dudes at the endurocross race in Vegas last month...

If you have a YZ there is no advantage to changes out your race can for another race type can. Save your money, bro. During the conversation I basically learned the only advantage they can offer YZ riders is noise reduction -- with power loss, the only way to get power gain is if you buy a powerbomb pipe.

Yes but the 4.1 is a much shorter pipe and if you look at my avatar a shorter pipe can save you money in the long run.

Yeah you won’t. I run just the slip on and it cut the noise down and if you run the mega bomb it cuts the noise even more. And the whole pipe including the mega bomb is only $900 and that’s with a carbon can.

Umm no, you are wrong. The FMF can is louder than the stock can. As far as the megabomb you are right. I do have the megabomb which does drop the db's a bit. Did you say "Only" $900? are you kidding me?

You should have saved some of that $900 and bought some riding lessons. J/K

I have a 06 FMF 4.1 Carbon slip-on and personally I think it is well worth the money. Plusses: light, light, light - you can feel it,smoother, wider range of power/rpm, much better looks - shorter, nice finish, durable?- I haven't had any issue yet. Minuses: none

?

I am an Euro, so I have the stock power bomb style header on the 2006, but in 2007 the Euro models don't have them, so that could also indicate something.

No I dont need riding lessons I need a griper seat. I just sliped off......it was lame. And the whole system is only like $880 I think that was on motorsport outlets web page.

I have an FMF powercore with a Powerbomb header on my '06...I'm not that fond of it. I think the whole 'slip-fit' deal is pretty cheesey. I had alot of decel popping, which I had originally attributed to the Zip-Ty carb mod. Finally I put the stock silencer back on with the Powerbomb header...fixed things right up!

I'm either gonna look for a better fitting silencer (White Bros?) or just leave the stocker on.

I bought my 06 yz450f used and it already had the mega bomb header with the 4.1 can. It's not much louder than a stock one. It is a little louder though. The bike came to me with the stock header and the 4.1 can on it but the guy threw in a megabomb header. Why?? I don't know but that was the deal. So I rode it a little with the stock header and 4.1 = very loud. Put the mega bomb on, it got quieter but at my skill level, I notice very little difference in an exhaust on the big 450. Some difference, yes, $900 worth, no way. I have a 250f and an exhaust system addition to that was night and day for me.

I run an FMF Factory 4 on my 04 YZ450. I originally bought it ($265 NOT $900) because I was going to need a spark arrestor when we ride in the desert or the hills and I needed one to be legal. I love mine. I felt a little less restriction in the mid-range and now have the ability to pop on a spark arrestor (three bolts) in 2 minutes anytime I need it. I also bought the "quiet care" attachment for those specific riding areas (Hollister Hills is one) where you have to meet the db requirements, although I haven't needed it yet. I really haven't noticed the FMF pipe to bee much louder than my stocker.

Your talking about two totally different pipes. They are talking about the 4.1 which is a designed "Racing" pipe. The Factory 4 is an older style pipe meant more for off-road use and like you said a spark arrestor. Thats why yours was 265 and not 900.

But i know that the factory Yamaha teams use White Brothers so there has to be something there, for them to choose White Brothers. I think Y.O.T uses FMF though...
