Did you ever think how black rims would look with red hubs to match....im redoing my 426 now and was wondering, hubs on the wheels to mactch the back rounds on number plates. Maybe even yellow backrounds with yellow hubs. But i like the blue and red

Yeah, I bought those gold Excels back when gold was the "in" color to have. I didn't want to spend more than $2k re-doing this bike and new black Excels with Talon hubs would have put me well over $3k for the build. I do plan on making the switch though.

Digging the gold, it fits the bike. :)

haha only about half of one. Completely restoring my bike. Sand blasted the frame and painted it. 5th gear blew so I split the cases and am in the process of going through the whole motor. I'll post pics when it's done.

I would like to see some pics of the finished product. Its nice to see these older bikes still being restored and ridden as much as the newer ones! :ride:

Woodsy94, I'll post pics when I get her together. It'll be about about a another week or two before I get it assembled. I'm still waiting on parts to come in the mail.

Im currently thinking about taking off my stock shifter and brake and painting them black with red tips and also paint my frame where my boots rub with spray on bed liner...any thoughts or opinions on it?

I don't think people give the 400f/426 enough credit. Its a pretty amazing bike.
It came out in 98 and carried the same basic motor design for over 10 years. Nearly reliable as an XR80, and if you showed up on a starting line of most amateur tracks with one, you wouldn't be at an ridiculous disadvantage against 8000.00+ EFI 2013 mx bikes.
