Get one, even used.

My 2000 AF is still the bike I'd rather be on than ANYTHING else, but I'm a little odd regarding the 500s. I wouldn't mind getting a newer AF but that's the only thing I'd get off my current mount for. I have a XR600 to run dual sport and Baja stuff but the rest of the riding gets done on my AF. They are that good and top ends cost only $200, if that. I've never blown up a CR500 in 15 years of riding them. Can you say that about the CRF/YZF/etc that the 500 roosts on?

The '87 CR500R I own is 20 years old and I'm still running the second over-bore!

Sweet, thats a lot of the fun for me is not having to worry about reliability, and high maintenance.
