My '02 426 still has what I believe to be the stock packing and I am trying to replace it but I am having a helluva time getting the old stuff out! I am down to prying little bits at a time with a screwdriver and pliers.

Any tips?

So did you drill out the rivets and slide the end of the muffler out exposing the center pipe that runs thru the muffler? If so, you should be able to just "unwrap" the packing from the center pipe and rewrap it, being careful not to wrap the new packing too tight or it'll be loud.
