Because there is only a certain amount of space available at the top of the page, there's a limit to how many stickies can go there. There are, however, a number of great threads bobbing around in the system that can and should be more accessible as references. I've been thinking about this, and a way to make the really huge DCM thread more usable for quite a while now. Maybe it's the moon, but BW, Eddie Sinsneros, and I all came up with the same basic idea more or less at once. Quickly, it's an indexed list of good threads covering different subjects that come up frequently. That way, a member won't have to search for every old thread he needs, and the Index header won't need as many stickies.

If you have a nomination for a subject or a particular thread that you'd like posted, either a popular mod like the cam thread, or a too frequently asked question, like oil and red, glowing headers, let me know.

If you think you know of a better thread or other link for one that's already posted, let me hear that, too.

How about a thread (sticky) for newbies like: Common first time maintenance/ errors/mistakes? Some kind of title like that. Have users here on T.T. post suggestions on most common costly mistakes that a newbie could learn from (even though it's probably in the users manual). Alot can happen because of lack of experience or just not knowing. A users manual doesn't tell a newbie everything there is to know about maintenance and some of these mistakes can be costly and dangerous!

i am a newbie to four strokes and that sounds like a VERY GOOD idea. and i dnt think my bike wud hav seized if the was a sticky for newbies:bonk: ? plz put a (sticky) for newbies

Hello people. I hope this post is in the right place, newbie makes classic goof up. I really really need some advice and some encouragement , I have made a gold plated , fur lined ocean going cock up. It's a long story but I have had the engine out for 8 months and was a little rusty on what went where after so long. So when re installing the neutral switch I put the spring in the central hole and its... Well a hand grenade in my engine now. In my defence if you look at the Yamaha manual it clearly shows the spring going into the central hole. So I have beat myself up , got miserably drunk for two days. None of which helped.i have fished up the oil drain plug with a magnet. I have been looking at images of the inside of the crankcase. I could take the engine out and turn it upside down but don't want it to get worse . Cuz I know it can always get worse. Has anyone been here before and got any advice for me. It's only an inch from the drain hole but the don't seem to connect.
