87 vs 90 XR 600R

Recommended Posts

Yeah I had a '89 and it was a great bike. It is about 10lbs lighter than the 87. I bought it in 1997 and put 13,000 miles on it, mostly tough offroad miles. When I sold it last August it started on the 1st kick, the engine was cold and hadn't been run in about a week. The 1st guy to look at it bought it. It took me about a year to finally decide to sell it. :worthy:

The '90 has better supension and engine than the '87.

I didn't say the 650R was bad, I said that I'd take a 600 over it anyday. When I had a 650R, it wasn't as good on the single track, technical trails that we have here in KY. The 600 has more grunt down low where I need it. The 650R wanted to be rode higher in the rpm which doesn't work well in the single track stuff. Even after I did the radiator cap and thermostat mod it would over heat when I'd ride my favorite trails.

The suspension of the 600 also soaks up the rocks and roots better than the 650. Now the 650 would take woops much better than the 600 but we don't see to many of those around here.
