I need some help here please.

A buddy loaned me his YZ450 for the weekend. I figured it'd be nice to change the oil before taking it out. He couldn't find his service manual before he headed out of town so I downloaded the owners manual (which is all I could find) and it pretty much told me where the drain plugs are.

Here's my question. Two questions actually.....Without filter change does it really take only a bit over a quart? And if I add the fresh oil into the crankcase, will the motor pump the oil up into the oil tank?

Thanks in advance for any advice. I only have experience with 2-stroke mx'ers.

Im not sure exactly how much to put in w/out the filter. I don't have my manual here with me. With filter I pour in 1 quart, then fill the empty quart bottle up to the 300 mark then pour that in and its perfect.

The solution for you is to drain the filter good and the put in the amount as if you changed the filter. Warm the engine good and take out all the drain plugs and drain the filter. Its no problem to remove the filter and reinstall it.

You will have to crank the motor up and let it run for about 20 seconds or so the check the oil w/ the dip stick.

i dont have my manual to tell you how much but yes if you add it to the motor it will pump it up. and you are supposed to start it and let it idle for 3 min then check your oil with the dip stick and yes sond screw it in. and you love the power a 4 stroke has. i love mine.

I use a glass measuring cup and add 1100ml with new filter. Don't screw in dip stick when checking oil!
