2007 WR450 Performance Mods

Recommended Posts

I just installed the FMF Q4 in Stainless Slip On. It was around $400 with 2nd Day Shipping. Install was a breeze and I think the stock system is about 2 lbs heavier, maybe more. I didn't weigh either system. So I am down about 4 lbs with the AIS and Muffler.

On the test fire, it sounded great, but I haven't had a chance to ride it yet.

I installed the 06 GYTR AIS Removal kit and it was the best mod I made on this bike so far. It really woke it up and the off idle bog is gone. I ended up fabricating my own block off plate out of aluminum.

Great Bike So Far!

Thanks guys. I'll check out that donut inside the WR muffler. I don't remember it from the last time I took it off. Dubach sounds like a nice choice, besides they have a part number specifically for 07 WR. I was thinking Yoshimura RS2 slip on, but they only have a part number for 06 YZ. I'll try and talk to them. As for AIS, I think I'll wait for the 07 kit. Thanks again.

I just picked up my new 07 WR 450 today.? I took it for a quick lap up the street and realized just how slow this thing is with all the smog crap on it. I was considering going out to the desert this coming weekend, but this thing isn't leaving my garage until i take that stuff off. I've been reading all thest threads on buying the GYTR block off from the 06 and modifying it.

I checked at the dealer I bought it from and they didn't even have that.

Does anyone have a link that they can shoot me so I can just order it online

Here we go .. I have a new 07 wr450, it seems to have a big cork in it, won;t rev past 5 or 6 grand, my bud on an ancient XR500 smokes me. The throttle only turns a quarter turn. took off the airbox, and looked at the slide, it is only going up half way. Somewhere there is a throttle stop, which is wrong on every level. I am goint to accost my dealer about it tomorrow. There is no way a 7000 dollar premium dirt bike should come limited to 50 %. After breaking it in, I jetted it up, raised the needle(you have to use a washer the same diameter as the c-clip to space it up, the emissions needle has only one groove) and removed the insert in the last part of the muffler, as well as removed the air injection pump( you have to machine a plate the same shape as the flange that meets the port on the head out of 4mm stainless). It still won't fall out of a tree. obviously, the factory imposed half throttle situation id the culprit. Anyone else have a similar experience ? thanks for the help..

Well this being my second post Ill hope to be somewhat helpful here. I have been trying to find a highly reliable description and dimension for the Throttle Stop MOD for the 2007 WR450F. I found what I was looking for with pictures to boot. I would like for the moderators to verify this info for me before I modify my Throttle Stop Screw. Anyways I hope this post helps all those who are looking for a little more info.

The following link rpovides the pictures and dimensions I have been searching for. Hopefully again it will help others.

Dear Flytmech and Poolskicom, all the info you need is in the forum stickies at the top of the WR forum and a little research and reading will do wonders for your understanding of what needs to be done to open up the WR from it's dealer trim. I might add that Yamaha has made all these restrictions FREE to remove. As for the throttle stop measurement in the dyno jet website it is correct and as for the choked up bike do the FREE mods and then see if you are still mad at your bike. Maybe your bike is mad at you for not doing some homework.? WR Dave

Amen to that.

I just installed an 06 YZ450 stock exhaust on my 07 WR and I am totally happy now. It runs exactly how I want it.

Do you find the YZ pipe loud, or am i just getting old. I wont take it off as the improvements are awsome, but i was just after your oppinion. i haven't done the grey wire yet, i am not sure if i really need more power. Do you find that with the YZ pipe it signs off a bit up top?

Cheers

Its definitely louder that stock but it is not louder that the FMF Titanium 4 I had on my 03. I also put on the header from the YZ and it really opened it up. I’ve only ridden it once but it ran fine on top. The WR muffler definitely sighed off on top.

a ttr keyed ignition switch , unplug the push button switch that turns on the power to the starter, unplug the wires from the plastic pc. buy a ttr90cc keyed switch unplug the wires and plug them in to the plastic pc. from the stock switch just plug it back in follow the same color code of wires NOW YOU HAVE A SWITCH WITH A KEY
