And if so, which parts?

There's one for sale locally and I'm thinking I could snatch it up and part it. Just wondering if there is enough interest that I could make some portion of the purchase price back. (You know I'd take the frame.)

What do you think?

I'd be interested in the motor, but I'm pretty cheap, and shipping to Canada might be a bit excessive.
Ebay is great for that kind of thing.

I'd be interested in any aftermarket parts if that donor bike has any. Cradle, exhaust, etc.

Ha...that's what I was afraid of. You'd all be like me!

I could go on ebay but I've had nothing but hassles trying to sell there, plus get hit with their fees.

Oh well...we'll see.

I would also be interested in the motor.
I could use the hubs and front rotor too.

Hi Hawncase. There is a 2006 frame on ebay that might do the trick.

http://cgi.ebay.com/...1QQcmdZViewItem

It has a BBR cradle but this is getting crazy bids under a seperate auction.

Hope this helps.

Ha...I was watching that one from the first day it was listed! I'd talked with the guy and got his reserve price so I was just waiting to come in at the end.

Mission accomplished! Thanks for the heads up though. And you can bet I'm gonna beef this one up ahead of time.

Hey guys, I just met a guy at the track who offered to beef up my frame b4 it breaks for $150 dollars. He owns an A/C co. and is a certified welder. He was w/ a buddy who he beefed up his frame for and it looks really good. He said If I gave him the frame and cradle he will gusset the subrame where it attatches to the top frame rails (where the rear fender mounts), He will gusset the frame where it attatches above the pegs, he will add 1/8'' of material to the tabs and cut the cradle to compensate, and add an aluminum plate to the cradle and tie it into the existing stock skidplate mounts. His work looked really good and well welded. Sorry I couldn't get any pix,

Do you guys think its worth it? The cost includes materials.

Sounds good to me. I'd do it if I wasn't going to do it myself.

btw here's what bbr had to say...

That is going to be a tough one to fix. I would say that if you were able to bend the frame back to its original position you might be able to fix the torn portion. Welding some steel washers to the frame where it tore would at least make the frame complete again. Keep in mind that if the frame has already been bent its overall strength has been weakened. Welding washers onto that portion of the frame would almost be a better preventative precaution.

His name is Dan and he went on to warn that once bent, the frame may be permanently weakened, so the best fix is a new frame. (Great!)

Washers, huh? I was going to take those two thin metal tabs off entirely and put heavier gauge steel in their place. Got some other ideas too. And fer sur I'll be watching that area a lot closer from here on. Oh, and I'm going to bet the strongest bolt that I can as well. If you check it out, the bolt that goes with the cradle is a pretty skinny little guy. Mine actually bent, too.

Suzook, that sounds like a good deal since it sounds like you've seen some of his work. Not sure where I'm going with it. Maybe similar route with a local shop.

And last but not least the lower frame/tab reinforcement:

an added 1/8'' of material to the tabs, also notice the gussets added to prevent the frame from twisting:
