Why drill the slide with "Daves" mods?

I always thought it had to do with response time of the slide's motion...the larger holes allow more air to move (or the air to move more rapidly); thereby increasing its speed and/or freedom of movement, which increases its responsiveness, which equates to better throttle response, which culminates in more grins.

Did I win?

'A' for effort, at least?

Kudos for creativity?

Almost sounds like you know what you're talking about;) Actually, I always though the same thing, right or wrong. I gave up on the vaccum carb and went with the Edelbrock. Others have said they've had problems, but mine is working perfectly and is infinitly better than the old stocker.
