Installing a VAPOR

Recommended Posts

I've gone through two of them and have had nothing but problems w/ my Vaypors. They are more like toys than real speedos.

Going back I should just have spent the money on a ICO Dualsport and not been lured in my the frills.

My 2 cents.

Its called duty tax and misc fees! I'll never ship anything to Canook again!

Sorry bro, but that isn't true. The shipper only pays the shipping fee, which in the case of shipping to Canada is only marginally more than shipping anywhere in the US. That's what's so stupid about it. I pay the shipper $76 to ship the item (which would only actually cost them $25), then it arrives and I have to pay UPS $20 for brokering it across the border, 7% GST, and what ever other fees they invent.

I never understand why people don't like shipping to Canada, buyer is always responsible for tax and duty! Any buyer that goes back trying to

Where'd you get it, and don't say trailtech.com. Those bastids want $76 to ship the Vapor to Canada! No way it would cost even $25.

you can buy them in canada from any bike shop that uses Kimpex {CDN motorcycle parts distributer}. most shops use motovan, parts can, and kimpex.

I just ordered one, for my LC4. I've had good luck with previous Trail Tech stuff......side stand, 2 other enduro computers (one of which has been on by XR650L for 4 years) The Vapor seems like the next logical step in the evolution of digital meters. For the price of an ICO, you can replace 2 or 3 of these....

My Vapor worked fine until the rotor magnet dislodged and chewed through the speed sensor. I've been waiting 3 weeks for a new sensor. I have both the water temp and CH temp sensors wired to a switch so I can monitor either. They no longer offer the CH temp sensor as they are about to release an improved version. For the price I think the Vapor is a bargin. It is small and light saves 2 lbs over the stock speedo and cable (best pound loss/$ out there) and when wired up to the bikes 12v looks good at night.

Im gonna throw the Endurance I have on the supermoto now on the desert bike and buy the vapor for the supermoto. I need a night light because Im afraid of the dark.....actually because i HATE looking for the tiny button to see how fast Im going with a cop behind me at night!

tell that to FedEx - they came after me for $54 broker fees after they dropped off a package at the recipient's home in Canada, but apparantly expected that person to mail them the cash, which he obviously didn't do. At that point, they just billed me. If you don't want to lose your FedEx account, you actually have to pay that.

Just finished installing a Vapor on my XR650R, seems like a good product at a great price so far.

Is there a need to change the wheel size setting for the speedometer to be accurate or is the default setting good enough?

using default and new Dunlop D606, my Vapor slightly underindicates. Compared to my GPS, the Vapor shows 53 when I am doing 55mph. Nothing huge, but I suppose once the tire wears a little, this will get closer to accurate.
