1: Pipe! get a mx pipe or muffler if you still have the stocker. The YZ muffler is good, but every aftermarket one would give you more gains. The downside is that they are louder. You can get 98db versions of some mufflers (whitebro's) so choose wisely. Any is better than the stocker!

2: Hotcams! a set should add 5+ hp to the mid to red line over stock cams. I got my set off ebay for $US300. I haven't got them yet, they are currently somewhere in between USA and Australia. The YZ exhaust cam just moves power higher in the rev range.

3: High comp piston. More compression means more power through out the whole rev range. Stock compression is 12.5:1 for your model, JE make a 13:1 and 13.5:1, Wiseco make a 13.5:1 also. I got a 12.8:1 (my stock comp. is 12.3:1 for '05) because of fuel quality concerns. If I had 98 oct I would have went 13.5:1. As above too, mine is in transit.

4: Bigbore kit. Heaps more power bottom to top, but power falls flat on it's face after peak. I couldn't afford a bigbore kit, I got the piston and cams instead. Ialready got a Procircuit Ti GP lowboy system which adds a crap load of power to low - mid, as well as some top. I felt my bike is a bit flat on top so I went the cams direction.

I believe the combo of pipe, bigbore kit and hotcams would be absolute killer if you had the money.

Definately start with a pipe if you don't already have one as there is awesome gains to be had right there to start with.

See I'm concerned about screwing the powerband. I have a YZ450 (06) and had an 05 YZ450f. I do not want the WR acting like the 05 YZ. But I run Baja a few times a year and needed more power to pull my very tall gearing. I tried Hotcams and realized they caused too much work for the weight of the bike on me. So I removed them. I instead called Procircuit who has built a few of my motors. They suggested I try a little bit larger bore since I need stock compression and have them port the head. So the head is off to them right now. A 470 kit is going in, and a few other tuning parts. It needed a rebuild anyways, it has 3000 Baja and street miles on it. Some carb work will be done also. I still have the hotcams if I need them. I'll let you know how it turns out. Suspension is out to Enzo also. We carry extra weight so I need it firmer.
