So What's the scoop on the 07 YZ450?

Recommended Posts

We used to be able to go to California or Utah and get good deals. But over the past couple of years, most people who have purchased out of state, have reveived a "bill" from the state of Nevada Taxation Department for the sales tax!! Now we just don't bother with the drive to Victorville, LA, or St. George.

Years ago, I saved some pretty pennies, but I will be checking out the TT "New Bike" store as it is only a few miles from the house.

I paid $6,750.00 out the door with a $2,200 trade in on my '03 450 that I took all my trick parts off of and put back to stock.

Ditto here. $6749 OTD (in the white special edition) from Rock River Power Sports in WI. I would expect you could find some very good prices in CA (comment on one of the replys higher up) given that they have more dealers than anyone and sell more bikes than all the other states put together. All you need to do is check around and avoid those dealers that look for high margins. As with cars, find a volume dealer.

Yz 450f Blue $6,999 $6,099 In Stock

White $7,099 $6,199 In Stock

First price is retail second is price + 165 setup. Thats what they cost in Albany NY.

That sounds the same as what I paid here in WI ($6360 plus tax). Adding tax brought it up to what I paid out the door. Sounds like its the average going deal.

But how did it turn? I read that they still push a little.
They turn a little better than the '06, which turns better than any MX bike I've been on since my CZ days. The reason is that they incorporated most of the common '06 field fixes into the new bike at the factory.

All, as in every stinkin' one, MX bikes will push the front a little compared to what could be done if it were not necessary to use head angles greater than 26 degrees to deal with the rough turf they run on. That's just the way things are. But the newer 450's are as planted at the front as you'll find in the genre.

I got mine a week ago. i havent really gotten it out on a fast track yet to open it up. But i have been able to tell how it handle on a little tighter track and it is awesome. The suspension is set up very well stock i didnt really feel it push but i will make some adjustments as it breaks in as just about everyone does. The motor like always has that yamaha grunt. not as bad as the 03 i had but it still isnt as smooth as my buddy's honda. i like the yank off the bottom some do and some dont. Change the bars on that thing and your ready to go man. The "beach cruser bars" that yamaha supposedly raise are still super flat. But i dont have a whole lot to complain about. The pipe does have a very small out hole for the noise limit. but it has no lack of pull ever. I love mine.

I road this bike today and absolutely loved the suspension. This is the first Yami I have ridden since my 73 125 trail bike. But this one rocked. I felt like I was riding on a perfectly groomed track and it was the end of the day. It turned great. But the motor was just too weak down low.

Then I road a 06 with a sleeved down motor to a 400. WOW! The power was so smooth and not over powering. It was there at the crack of the throttle and rolled on powerful and electic. This bike felt so fast and yet had less power. Look to Dirt Rider to do a full article on this. I could have ridden any of the other bikes (07 Yami, Kawi, Suzuk) but chose to stay on the sleeved down Yami. Never got tired and felt blazing fast.

All of this and I'm a Honda guy. Just might have to go blue. Hope they make red plastics for it.
