I am perapring to pull the bike apart to do Daves mods. I got some jets from the local dealer, he did not seem to check and have me hex head main jets. All the photos on the site show round.

Which is correct?

The short round ones!
I am running a 165 main, I am just above sea level. Stock pilot. Snorkel removed and drilled airbox, desmogged, geared 14/48, FMF header and soon to be replaced powercore4.

Thanks.

I am at 3300 feet, running a Pro Circuit 496.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Honda dealer near me said they dont sell larger jets for the L,
so people wont mess with the carb and change the emmisions output.
They told me to get them i had to order aftermarket.

At 3300 ft. would think that a 157.5 or 160 would be close.
nxridge pretty much all dealers have a box of jets in parts, should not be a problem same jets are used by both Mikuni and Keihen

My mikuni jets won't work in my keihen.

If im not mistaken , the L's jets are a tad differant.

They didnt have any that matched mine , they had quite a few also.

Honda dealer said that they do make them , but honda isnt allowed to sell them.
they didnt even list them under the bike in there books , could only buy the stock ones from them (or leaner than stock)
Due to the restrictions of keeping the xrl meeting emmisions and all that non-sense.
Thats what i was told ( dont shoot the messanger) LOL........

Told me to go online and order them aftermarket.

If you lived around the corner I would give you the jets you need. Got them from the local Honda dealer.

well , we looked through what they had , and they only had the hex's.
so that honda didnt have any for the L.
I'm only saying what they told me about ordering jets specificly for the L.
to bad i dont live near the dealer that had them in thier jet collection .

I suppose your dealer is better than mine.

Either way , online aftermarket is my only access to the correct jets.

Just get the dynojet kit has two mains a 160 and a 165, new needle and lighter slide spring, go ahead and do daves mods then use the parts in the kit, when you put it back together. About $50 on ebay, dont look at the cheap jet kit they have on ebay from canada they dont fit.

Stick with Daves mods. I did the DJ kit and I wish I hadn't spent the money.

Had the same problem when I rejetted my 93 xr650l. I ran down to Scotts, after describing the main jet I did not have any problem getting what I needed.

55 Pilot jet
158 Main

I just did this using a 55/160, daves mods, desmogged, desnorkeled, STOCK pipe setup and the bike is night and day better!!

I couldnt get it dialed in to my liking, so i went with the DJ kit and its much nicer now with no hiccups or hesitation!
