hey guys

i am going to be upgrading my bars shortly and the popular consensus seems to be the CR HIGH bend.

i am 6'3" and feel somewhat cramped on the bike, i would like to get some bars that will move out and up about an inch in each direction. i am curious, how does the CR HIGH bend compare to stock? is it an inch or so higher, etc....? i am looking to go as high as possible with stock cables!

any input?

i will eventually be looking into a more permanent and "dialed in" solution (possibly a new triple clamp with adjustable bar clamps or something of that nature) but right now i am kind of looking for a "fix" until i deal with some other stuff

thanks

P.S. I just noticed another thread with almost the same topic, sorry

I went will the protapers in the Henry/Reed bend not quite as high, and a little less sweep. if you are keeping the stock triple clamp and mounts for now, try the protaper SE model (7/8") in the Travis pastrana bend it gives 5" of rise and is a full 32" wide bar. That will be close to the cr high bends with 1" rise on the bar mounts. but not as upturned on the ends.
You can find them on ebay at, ebay store powersinc. or ebay store ugly-bikes.com or ebay seller keebcrab

ok thanks! will these bars (pastana) fit with stock cables?

so, the travis bend is actually 1" higher then the CR HIGH?

They should The stock cables fit my bike with the rsw clamp and henry bend bars. Seemed like there was stilll room for the cables to go a little more and still articulate.
I am chasing you in circles here! LOL.

I went with the cr high bend and then put the risers on with out any shims and with the smallest shim. Ended up takeingthe shim out,but the cables were fine.

I only use Renthal Jimmy Button bend and they are taller than most with not as much sweep as the CR Hi or the RC bend. On my WR I bought risers from Barrisers online but on my 650L those same risers were too tall for the stock cables so I bought the risers from RockyMountain. They were half the cost $26.66 to my door. They work really nice.

Hope that helps.

Oh yes, I am 6'1" and when I stand up now I don't lean any. While sitting it is really comfortable.

Another Note, the RC bend make me feel like I am riding a bull and holding onto the horns. To me they sweep way forward.

ok, the countours. i thought you mentioned the SE's. the SE's, Contours and the other couple models all have completely different bends (even under pastrana), kinda weird if ya ask me!

i also found a paid that renthal makes called the "Vintage High Bend" that are 33" wide and have 4.75 of rise, looks nice!

thanks for the info

I am 6'4" and am very happy with the Renthal Fat Bar in the Carmichael high bend along with the Moose adaptors. The bars are about 3/4" higher and have a little less sweep than the CR High bend. The adaptors add close to 1/2" as well. The stock cables work fine.

if the 'CR' height isn't enough, I have read where some tall guys use a 'quad'-type bar for even more rise, I think Dwight Rudder was talking about using one on his enduro bikes, as it is also narrower ...

Seem to me that when I was looking for bars the tallest with a smallish sweep was the one I bought a 909 mini high. If I recall 4.75" rise, 2º sweep and 30.5" wide. I just recently installed some Tusk bar risers $20.00 at RMATV. comes with three different height options.
