I have had mine for 2+ weeks and have not even put gas in it yet. The way things are looking now I won`t get a chance till after the 15th, but it is starting to look good with all of the extras that I have been putting on it. I also just got my suspension back from Enzo on Monday. This time I got the sub tanks, they sure look cool.

Curious why subtanks on twin chamber KYB's?

I thought these forks already acted like the older forks with subtanks (But better) - like on my 03...

When I talked to Ross M he did not seem to think much benefit to subtanks on the 06/07

I rode an 03 yz250f before. I had knee surgery and recovered from a fractured rotator cuff. I haven't rode for almost a year. I went from 190lbs. to 220lbs.(6ft./32 years old) since not riding. So decided to get the 07 450. I'm very happy with decision. The bike handles very well, and the suspension is the best stock I've ever ridden even for my weight. The front brake is awsome. Very little engine breaking. The 250f was a great bike, but the weight I put on over the year made my decision to move up to the 450. I have three rides on it so far. With each time it gets better learning it's character.

When I had them do my 06 they told me the same thing. Then I did a wide variety of races this year ranging from Moto-X to Desert to WORCS and I even raced the Idaho City ISDE qualifier. I asked them if I could get my 07 to be plusher on the small stuff without sacrificing being able to take the big hit. Enzo said that the subtanks would probably benefit me. Now that I am getting older(I am 44 now)I want to ride or race anything that looks fun at any particular moment. When I get a chance to ride it I will be able to compare the 06 and 07 side by side to see if the subtanks were worth doing.

I did not do any coatings although I would like to try some coated forks sometime. I am doing a USRA Desert race this weekend and then I will put all of my efforts into preparations for the 24hrs. of Glen Helen, which is the following weekend. Any ride comparisons will have to wait till after that. You know sometimes I have to apologize to my wife for having too much fun.

That would have been my take on it, too, but there may be something to it. MXA found the fork was very sensitive to oil level changes. I assume they meant the outer chamber level, but maybe not. Sub tanks might change things quite a bit if they were talking about the outer.

The power of this bike is really crazy… The gear ratios are excellence in my opinion. Second and third pull strong over the entire range… The different in power compared to my YZ250F is like a mustang to a Lamborghini. The suspension setup felt good. This bike is great in deep burmed turns. I didn’t have to work it through turns like I do with my 06. This is probably due to the extra 1.5mm on the rear shock. The front forks could use some work but besides that the suspension felt great.

I notice some clicking or ticking sounds around the front sprocket area on deceleration in second and third gear. It may be nothing but it’s different than what my YZ250F sounds like on deceleration. It sounds like something loose. I’ve gone over this bike and every screw, nut and bolt is tight. It may be coming from the gears on the bottom side. Has anyone who has ridden the 07 noticed this? May just be new sounds on the new bike. I will keep an eye on it…

Ross told me the same thing regarding my '07 YZ250. I kind of appreciated his honesty. I'm curious to hear the ride report as I'm looking to moto/hare scramble/trail ride and am close to jb47's age.
