blown gaskets?

today my dads R stated spewing oil out the dip stick cap and the head and case, is this a major deal or will taking the oil out and putting the right ammount in...oh ya the oil level is high

A good first start is to completely drain the engine and frame reservior. Then add the correct amount of oil. Not sure which bike we are talking about, but the XR650R is prone to blowing out the seal behind the countershaft sprocket if there is too much oilk in the engine.

You need to use the correct procedure to check the oil. If you do it the wrong way, it seems like the oil is low when is is not. Then you overfill when you add oil.
