Just wondered how many are aware of this (#4) oil filter screen? Pretty many of the honda 4 stroke motors have them, not sure about other makes.

 I'll bet alot don't even know it exists .

Newer and older L's & R's have them. Can't recall if manuals tell you to ever clean them or not?

The good news is that this screen is almost always perfectly clean in the dozens of motors I've opened, even after thousands of off-road miles.

The only one I clean is the one on the bottom of the down tube. I've only cleaned it once after break-in. It was almost perfectly clean.

You are right...I clean the one in my down tube regularly but I've never seen this. I'll have to check and update later.

This is the screen that plugs up when you break/gring internals, or toast the clutch.

I have almost never seen anything on this screen. On my older XL250S it was the only "filter" of any kind in the engine. I wouldn't open the cover to clean this. However, whenever I do open the cover for some other reason, I do clean it.

Yep, that would be the case I'm sure.

I'm another that never found them dirty.

Does Honda mention in manuals to ever check them? Do they mention them at all?

Yes, it's clearly pictured and mentioned on page 4-2 of the factory service manual.
