stripped oil drain plug

I have a 1975 xl 350 with a almost rounded oil drain plug that is very tight, any advice on how to remove it before its rounded beyond help. I also still need the valve clearance specs so I can adjust the valves. thanks for any help.

A little heat and an impact driver? Heat will expand the pan and impact driver will loosen the plug.
