Ok here we go the 12 week xrays.   Update on progress.
1. Can only run a mile on it and my knee and ankle hurt too much
2. still scared to jump off things
3. knee still is stiff. So is ankle.
4. Still cant bounce on just my left toes

I did a triathlon on the 26th 11 weeks out. was pretty fun but ankle and knee are feeling it. Actually was keeping a decent pace till the run.

Otherwise feels normal

Otherwise pretty good. Here are the xrays. We'll see if I can get on the bike.

To recap: This is how it was when I went in to Dr. Mark. Bent the plate.. Not as bad as it looks. Dont get me wrong hurts like a broken leg but was good becuase the plate held everything tight so it didnt feel that bad.

The tibial fracture is healed.  You will need to continue to challenge it, and it will continue to challenge you for a couple of years.

Beyond the usual risks, there is little to prevent you from riding your dirt bike.

Glastonbury,   I've been a member for the past 5 years at Rocky Hill. Great having a track 15 minutes from my house.   I'm #332 on a green kawasaki. Over the past two years though its been rough. Last year I only got 4 weeks in there (month of august) before breaking my leg (broke my foot before that and was off for 11 weeks). Year before that was off. But the years before that I was there ALL the time.  Come on you've had to see me crutching around on the weekends at RH last fall.  Good luck with your back! Sorry to hear.

Well upon further reveiw by a specialist One met was at 45 degree angle from the rest of the bone.and the other was completely unstable and splintered. I will never trust one MD. Unless of course im in houston and in the Sanders clinic...

Well I finally went riding again (at Rocky Hill) Here is how i felt:

Ankle: feels great its a little swollen from running lately but not bad and getting stronger

Actual bone and area of the break  - painless! Totally different from before I broke it the 2nd time. If I had known the bone were not healed I'd never have been riding.

Knee - Issues. This is the holdback.  Today I was rolling the bigger jumps and rolling whoop sections. It hurts to land bigger jumps and go fast through bumpy terrain. As I warmed up it got better but still a major holdback.   Good news is its not swollen

Is this something I can work out or is it just going to take time or both?

It all takes time.  The knee issue, will surely clear in a few months.

Just and update.  I've been working really hard on bringing my leg back and the knee is getting a hell of a lot better. Its hard to do a leg extension. The last 5% of it is where I get the most pain.   I can finally hit a whoop section again and am doing all the jumps. I am not afraid to come up short or over jump. Dabbing my left leg in a corner and this deep 4th gear  rhythm section are the only thing spooking me due to the injury.  I've been riding now 3 weeks.  So we are at 3.75 months now since I broke it again.   Everyday I say to myself how glad I was to make the trip to Texas! Dr. Mark has been awesome

Thats pretty awsome.

My knee is pretty much the least of my concerns. I am doing squats at the gym at 200lbs (I was doing 300+ before the injury), my knee does hurt a little bit when I get down all the way, but the tendons in the front of my ankle are what I feel the most.

Keep up the good work.

Havent given an update in a long time.  Just wanted to thank Dr. Mark again for an AMAZING job fixing my leg. I was able to do a triathlon 3 months after surgery (getting my leg rodded). Today it's like the injury never happened. So those of you with broken tib/fibs go see Dr. Mark. It will change your life. Thanks again!

This is really a neat story. Our ortho guys seems to plate the tib fib more often, is that because it is easier, quicker...why?

Greetings
after reading your interaction and seeing the testimony of your work on amenesia I feel inclined to post about my bang in hopes of any feedback.

I sustained a sprial fracture to tib and fib on the 21st of May (last Sat). Initially er wanted to resplint me and send me home since the fracture didn't break through my skin. I was adamant about not going home because my leg felt extremely fragile (like broken china)

The next day I had surgery performed. Rod and screws placed. Upon surgery the doc noticed that my ankle was fractured to so he repaired that too. Post op I am immobilized in a partial plaster splint with bandage outer wrap and was provided crutches and non weight bearing instructions.

Since day 1 post op, I have been stretching the quad and doing leg and knee raises. I was told by the doctor that based on my two week follow up visit he may cast me or put me in a walking boot.

Being in a cast seems like it will be a big set back. Up until yesterday my pain has been at at level 3. I've been keeping it elevated and intaking arnica. Yesterday I started having a lot of pain at the top part of my foot and its swollen. Is that normal? Any recommendations or words of wisdom in reference to my post op visit?

Thanks

Can't understand why a cast has to be employed in an internally fixed fracture.
