ok, so im planning on running my ol 400 in a 250 mile desert race.

i was wondering if anyone has run a smaller sprocket on their bike for similar circumstances. im guessing itd be good to get up to 85-95mph.

any recommendations?

I'd put a larger front sprocket to start with, as large you can. After that you may not need a smaller rear, or gearing will be too high. It is easier to throw in a larger front, not to mention it is more gentle for the swingarm.
