Hello All ... it's my first post to this forum.

I just took delivery of a 1980 TT500 outfitted in street trim. I recieved it with a roundslide 34mm Mikuni, and it carburetes badly .... very badly.

I'm hoping there is someone out there who can give me some start setting that have worked (or even close would be nice).

Thanks in advance.

I think you'll find it difficult to get a 34mm to work right on a 500cc engine. A 36 or 38 would be easier to jet. For example, I just put a VM38 on my XL350, and it works great. If at all possible, try a 38.

Harry,
Are you sure it'a 34mm carb?
XT 500C models had a 34, later XT's had a 32. I think TT's had a 34 standard (not 100% sure here).
The original carb has two cables and quite a bulky body to house the slide mechanism.

I'm running a 36mm on my XT.
My settings are
Main 240
Pilot 50-70
Needle 6F9
Needle jet P6 (must be 159 series and use a jet extender)
Slide No 4
No air jet.

This should give you a starting point.

Cheers

Brent
