The cigarette is a nice touch.
Those hot headers would make a good lighter.

I just went to the Peterson Auto Museum a few weeks ago, Here in Los Angeles. They had what was supposed to be Steve McQueens actual Triumph from the ISDT. It looked pretty authentic. It was unrestored. They were selling that book 40 summers ago. I checked out the pictures in the book and compared to the bike. Looked to be the same one. They also had his white Porche he raced at LeMans. Pretty cool.

I'm not endorsing smoking, it's bad for you, PERIOD! (I know, I'm an ex-smoker,quit nine and a half years ago.) Steve McQueen died of cancer caused by exposure to asbestos. The cigarettes didn't help matters I'm sure, but they did not cause what killed him.
BE CAREFUL WHEN HANDLING OLD DRY CLUTCHES AND BRAKE LININGS! Wear a mask and use brake clean or water to flush away any and all dust.
Back to topic: Contact the American based co-author of "40 Summers Ago". He's supposed to own the bike in question. The book is supposed to be a by-product of his quest to find and buy the bike. He should be helpful. When I ordered the book and T-shirt from him, he was very personable. He can be reached through Johnson Motors.
