I have been wondering the same thing for myself. I ate it, and the bike fell on my left knee. And it was the same sort of feeling, didn't hurt that bad but I couldn't put any weight on it. I rested up, and a few months later had the same situation happen again. But the last time it hurt like hell, and I couldn't move it still. But after a few days I feel totally normal.

did u get the surgery??

Had surgery a month ago, patella tendon autograft from the same knee. Have had full range of motion, and have been walking without a limp since 2.5 weeks post op, and strength is coming back. If your ACL is torn I wouldnt hesitate to have the surgery. After my first ACL tear I decided to wait on the surgery, and strengthen my legs, and try sports with a brace. I made it 9 months, and was chasing my kids in the yard when I misstepped, and my knee collapsed tearing the medial meniscus in addition to the already torn ACL. Luckily they were able to repair it so I didnt lose it.

  • 2 weeks later...

I am starting to think I might have done the same, Last Year I played baseball and my knee blew, took it easy for 3 months later tried to start running, was fine till the 3 night it went out and was painful, couldn't put any weight on it. Tried to rest it for 2 days, still hurt so i went to the Dr. All he did was an X-ray and said it was fine. Been 13 months and now the same knee is bothering me, from the left side behind my knee cap, behind and down a quarter way down the right side of my calf. Anybody know if it could be the same problem or something else. I can still put weight on it, not real bad pain, but I know it is there.

let me step in this since i tore my left acl 4 years ago...first off it hurt like hell, couldnt put weight on it or walk. went to 2 doctors who said oh its fine, if its torn it will grown back and re attach it self?!?!. 3rd doc did a test where he pulls the bottom of your leg side to side and front to back and told me right away it was torn, a MRI also confirmed it. (you cant see ligaments on x-rays!!!) i had physycal therapy to strenghen the leg for a month then the surgery. it was a ACL allograft (cadevar) was walking about 1.5 weeks after surgery, back up and running within 3 months. full full recovery took about a year, now i cant even tell anything was done. but keep in mind i work out 4-5 times a week and that makes a big difference on any injury like that. at the 6 month point i thought i was perfect and sort of re-injured it (streched the new acl a bit) so keep in mind it takes a full year for 100% recovery even though you might think otherwise earlier in the game

I tore mine in june, it didn't hurt or swell I just couldn't put any weight on it. The DR said it was probably partially torn for a while and I just finished it off. I had surgery july 17 (patella tendon same knee) I went back to work 4 days later(desk job). I've been doing pt 3 times a week and I'm thinking about riding next week. What I'm trying to say is get a MRI and if it is torn have the surgery its really worth it.

I unfortunately got to feel that feeling a few times last summer. Finally got it fixed in November. Sounds torn to me. Get it fixed because the next time it pops is when you start tearing other things that will cause pain. I started with an ACL tear and ended with torn meniscus, MCL, and LCL. That day hurt pretty bad the ACL didnt.

Don't waste your money, the Asterisks suck. By something with a hinge that doesnt move side to side. I blew my knee out twice while wearing them. Get the Cti2 for your injured knee and if your doc wont give you a scrip for the other knee, get a CTI morph. They are very close and the 1 morph is the same price as a pair of Asterisks and your insurance should cover the CTI.

compare how far foward the bottom part of your knee will move forward in comparison to your other knee. I have an ACL reconstruction and my bad knee still moves more forward than my other knee but at least now it has a stopping point.
