Just wanted to come brag about my '04 450. I was at a bike rally this weekend and entered the dyno shoot out in the 0-550cc class. My WR won. Its pretty much stock with free mods and it pulled a 48.8 HP run! I think it was awesome. Not to mention i had my motard wheels on and was schooling 'busas all day in the corners lol

Awesome.....I have an '06 WR450F myself. This winter I'll do a few mods to it as well. Full FMF powerbomb header, power core 4 muffler, powernow valve. K&N air filter, JD jet kit and gray wire afterall. Not to rain on your parade dude, but it sounds like the guys yells out 47.8 H.P. from the dyno run. Anyways, great results.

Excellent run!

Were you just rolling the throttle on under 4500 rpm or are our motors actually that weak below that point?

I'll have to admit, the new wr450f bikes are sweet. Thnaks for the info. on your dyno run also. I have drag raced my bike against a few times, and so far, I've won each time. I'm not the John Force of drag racing motorcycles, but I love a good race none the less! Right now in stock form,as the bike starts is ready to bail from 3 rd gear, its all over after 4th gear and the winner is!!! 48.8 H.P. for now .............

Thumper426, are you saying you can get the same 48.8 H.P output on a WR 426? I would love to see those kind of numbers out of mine.

I didnt do the run i think the guy did it in 4th gear and rolled on! I was quite happy mind you I ran with out the air filter i was at about 1500 feet and was running jetted for sea level so it helped lean it out.

Cool...

Had my WR450F 05 on the dyno at Yamaha and they got 43.6 HP

After a hour of tuning and re jetting they got it up to 48.7HP

I noticed for your dyno chart that your bike made it max HP at 8500rpm.

My one does it at 7000rpm..

Anyone now why.. might be the grey wire, which I have not yet cut.

Cannot wait to give it a try...

I sold my '02 yz426f over a year ago. I bought a new '06 WR450F last month. I'm not sure what the H.P. is for a 426. I believe it's around 38 to 42. If it's not, I'm sure someone will correct me in here, which is okay with me.
I tried to change my log in name here, but for some reason it won't let me so I can have a 450 instead of 426 now.

bhp and rear wheel hp is different, not saying a 426 can't put out that much but stock I doubt it!

I found some info. that my '02 that I sold had 53 H.P. stock. It's on some paper work I got from a company in Cal. a while back before I sold my bike after I had the carb rejetted. True or false, dunno myself, but I did keep up with my buddy on his '03 WR450F. It really depended on who got the holeshot. I did do a few mods to my 426, exh. side of head was polished, FMF carb jet kit, Ty Davis throttle, full FMF exh. w/a power core 4 and header. K&N air filter. PowerNow for carb. I liked the bike, but it didn't have the majic button! Also used the NGK irideum plug.
