TTR250 to a YZF426

I might be moving up to YZF426-2002 from my TTR250-1999 and I was wondering what some of the more significant differences and experiences that I will have on the YZF426 that my TTR250 doesn't have or that aren't as good as on the YZf426????

I went from a TTR250 to a 450 and it was night and day difference. I hated it to start with i was not use to all the power but after i got comfortable i would never go back. The only real pain is there is a lot more maintenance.

You'll need to learn to respect the throttle on the 426! Other than that you'll have to get used to better/more suspension, better brakes, and lighter weight.

I went from TTR-125L to a YZ450F...it's a entirely different bike, it's a MX bike, not trail/off-road bike. Suspension is better, its lighter, liquid cooled, no kickstand, bunch of aftermarket goodies, more powerful, etc...I knew this before I got into of course, but...it's crazy stuff. You will love it.

I orginally wanted a YZ125 but my parents thought that was too much bike for me 5 years ago...plus I never raced or rode MX, just trails...so I grew fast, got really good on my old bike, plus friends motocross bikes, then I got more into Motocross racing, and now I love it...so I saved my money and paid cash for my '06 YZ450F. :thumbsup:

Thanks alot for all the info...Ive tried to start the 2002 YXF426 and it is a mother to try and start becasue it has the conpression level on it.

Push the kickstarter till it gets hard and you can't move it anymore. Then hit the compression release on the clutch side and move the kicker about 2 inches down in the travel and then bring the kicker back up. Now give it a healthy kick and it should start :thumbsup:

just be ready for a very quick powerful bike. and the starting just takes some time to get used to then its easy. i can get mine in one kick everytime(after being started once that day)

It's gonna be like gonna from a camry to a shelby cobra. i rode an xr250 and then tried a 426...it's a very snappy and powerful bike;if you don't respect the throttle you'll go over backwards. I went to a YZ250F and am very pleased; i weigh 185 and am 6'2''. It feels about twice as fast as the xr and starts so much better than the 426. Most people are faster on a 250F. Yeah and it can ride a 5th gear wheelie..hahahaha :thumbsup:

Geez...I make one mention about maybe getting a new 450 and the kid all of a sudden thinks he's getting my 426! :thumbsup:
