How come the 250f comes with full skid plate but the 450f don't?

Recommended Posts

I was at the track the other day when I met my new riding buddy...anyways, he just bought the '06 YZ250F and I noticed he had the full skid plate, not just a glide plate like on our 450's. I asked him if he bought it, he said it came with it...then I looked on Yamaha-Motor.com and seen it does come with the full skid plate.

Just wondering why we can't get something like that on ours and we have to buy an aftermarket one...

When i got my 450 i thought they forgot to put my glide plate on as my mates 250f had a nice stock one.

I dont know what the idea was behind that???

I guess there has to be something wrong with the bike, everything else less the chain is perfect or extremely close to it.

the 06yz250f stock "glide plate" is good protection against thin grass, puddle water and most forms of air. it might protect against sand off the front tire or small pebble. it is NOT a bash plate. you can easily bend it with your hands. the holes in front allow mud to cling to it like crazyglue.

they can have it back for 5 bucks.
