86 xr6r. i would like to go to 100mm piston.my ? is, do the big bore cylinders (L.A. sleeve) have a larger o.d. than stock? i e-mailed l.a. and they said their kit has one bore, 100mm. IF that is the limit on their sleeve it must be the same size as stock therefore i would not change cylinders. has anyone dealt with this. thanks. tim

you can rebore the standard bore for the wiseco or JE:100mm (630 kit) BUT YOU DONT have much meat left in the bore.
your best to get a 630 sleeve pressed in then you get 2 rebores.

thanks veetwo. much better. i noticed ballards has their listing for 1988-on. all the places i look at here say that as well, i wonder why. mine is an 86. i do not have that nikasil coating on the cylinder. tim

i presume you can still resleeve yours.
best bet to do is ring who ever does the kits over your side of the pond & explain what your after. info etc.

by the way if you go 630 use high octain fuel OR run 2 base gaskets to lower compression so you can run normal pump fuel.

hi veetwo. the engine is still stock. i e-mailed L.A. sleeve and they say their sleeve for big bore is 100mm and can not be bored anymore, the one in your post w/ballards looks like it can be bored twice. do you know who makes that cylinder? the L.A. guys think my cylinder has nikasil, but it does not. thanks tim.
