Chain Slider Problem On 06?

I'm not talking about the slider fix, but tonight I noticed that my chain seems tight running on the slider. There is a groove on the top of the slider that the chain is hanging up in. Is this groove factory or is it worn out? It kinda looks like its made that way. Anyhow, the drag is so much that when I spin the rear tire it will stop almost immediately because of this. If it is worn out, then thats crazy... bike only has 20 hrs on it.

Compared to earlier 450's the '06 swing arm does appear to have a higher arch at the weld, and when the suspension is fully extended, the chain does run up and over it a bit more so than on my '03. The slider has a raised ridge when new, but no grooves.

The drag, I rather suspect is caused by that fine colored link chain of yours.

Thats deep. I know mine has a factory groove in it for the chain to roll into so it doesnt go off the side of the slider or whatnot...but that is not it, like Grayracer, Im going to say that it has something to do with your chain. When I roll my rear tire when the bikes on a stand it rolls fine, smooth along the slider, no getting stuck or stoped.

So that groove looks normal then? I don't remember the chain having that much drag on the slider when I put it on. In the last picture you can actually see how stuck the chain is when I try to lift it up. Maybe I need a different chain, but this one has been fine until now.

The grooves are are normal result of wear, but they aren't present in the new slider.

Have you noticed how much metal is worn off the bottom of edge of the chain plates? That is something you'll more typically see on an older chain on the top edge as a result of dragging through the lower guide. What do you lube the chain with?

As far as I can tell, there isn't much if any metal worn off the chain yet. I've been using Maxima Chain Wax... I like this stuff because it doesn't make a mess. So I have a couple options here to fix this problem. Either don't worry about it, which won't harm anything except that I haven't done the slider fix, and it will pound the swingarm even worse, or replace either the slider or chain or even both. The chain wasn't cheap so I don't really want to chuck that yet but I think I need to do something.

I olike Maxima chain wax on the O ring chain I put on my 450. Now.......I am using BelRay clean chain lube. It works good too.

It is really dry... the pic is fresh after a ride and the chain didn't get sprayed after the last moto. The chain wax is like that anyway.. drys up.

If I buy a new chain and slider, should I stay with the stock slider or is there aftermarket ones that will hold up much longer? I can't believe that I'm in the market for these parts already! My 426 slider lasted 4 years and was still going strong when I sold it!
