I have heard that in CT, Mass, and other places, you need to register your bike to ride on public land (at least the leagal fraction of it). Does a license plate trump this? I have a plate and a Mass ranger told me that with the plate, I don't register. Does anyone know if this is actually true or what Connecticut's stance on this is? Thanks for your help.

If you ar reg. for the street CT will leave you alone. At least for now there is alot of new dual sports around Pachaug state forest but as long as you stay on open trails ( this means they opend the gate not you or the person befor you . Found out the hard way.) the rangers will leave you alone.

Street registrations are legal for off-road riding in all 50 states. Some, however, require an off-road sticker, but in CT and Mass, the street plate is just fine. As, a matter of fact, it will give you access to trails only connected by town roads where the ATV plate is not legal.
