Same capacity as 05/06.........

Yeah, I did not think too kindly of those tanks either. I guess Yamaha would rather shave a few ounces on the advertised dry weight for bragging rights along with saving money and reuse the tea cup size MX tank. I was just hoping for something better like a 3.6 to 4 gal size for a full days ride. It is almost like Yamaha has stock in aftermarket tanks. The old WR426 tank is tall and dorky, but at least it has 3.2 gal capacity, with a reserve and came stock with the bike so I could buy other stuff before having to lay out a couple hundred dollars for a decent tank. IMHO the line between an enduro and an MX bike is beginning to blur, if I wanted a MX bike I would have bought one,

Yamaha is just responding to the market. Everyone bitched and whined about the physical size of the 426 tank so they reduced it to 2.6 gals on the 03/04 models and everyone still bitched and whined about that so now you get a 2.1 tank shaped like the YZ. And of course none of their competitors bikes come with large tanks either so in the shootout they would killed in the "wet" weight and ergonomics battle if they went to a gallon and a half larger tank. It's like the old addage - you can please some of the people all of the time or all of the people some of the time. I have two WR's at the moment. One is my long range plated dual sport with an IMS tank and the other is my desert play bike with the 2.1 gal tank. The 2.1 gal tank is a much nicer ride if you don't need the range.

Changed from the KTM stable last year to WR. Got the 07 in December, never been happier with a purchase. There is no comparison between the 06 and 07 WR ridden both. The 07 feels more like a YZF than ever before. Love it. If you have any doubts go ride the KTM's and then the WR, it will make up your mind by itself.

Go ride the bike and then come and post the reply. Sold my KTM and have never been happier with any bike purchased.

The 07 is years ahead of any other manufacturer. Thery might catch up in a year or two.

There is also no camparison between the 06 and 07. Once again go ride it and you will see.

I love the skid plate, I have nailed and I mean nailed rocks hard skid plate works trust me.( my brothers a Dr.):goofy: But just to be honest the stock bike was a bummer.after all the free mods and the throttle stop change a new pipe and headernice ,nice baby freakin just smokes the comp. Well at least all my friends. See ya gotta ride .??

OK now for my 2 cents. Aside form the air cleaner debacle, the Wr is a great bike ! I'm not looking at my gas tank and only sometimes at my headlight while riding so what they look like doesn't bother me. The bike is fun to ride ! What it lacks in appearance, it makes up for in fun ! It's no KTM by any means, but it doesn't have to be. It stands on it's own merits. For the first time in a long time, just the thought of riding it brings a smile to my face. In fact, this past weekend I climbed a hill on it that I couldn't on my KTM so I'm pumped !

I like it !

Good Luck !

i rode my friends 07 wr last weekend (uncorked) and it is a very nice bike very snappy throttle response. very light, handled well. only dislikes were the engine braking too much for my liking and the seat was like sitting on a rock LOL. other than that i would seriously consider this as a next bike.......if i didn't want a ktm 300 so badly

It depends on what you're going to use it for. The Yamaha seems to be smaller and is easier for me to ride in tight woods. The 525 that I had was long legged and did way better in the rough wide open stuff. I felt like I was on a serious competition machine when I rode the KTM. The Yamaha is serious about having fun and being flung around bounced off of stuff. Not that you couldn't have fun on the KTM, it was just a "search and destroy" kind of fun. I like them both. I think I'll dump that Husky and get a 525 exc. Then I'll be having maximum fun !

STS.

Does that mean the KTM is a far superior bike in your opinion?

I too have a tricked out 05 WR but wanted a lighter bike for the tight woods. I bought a like new 03 KTM 200SX for $2600. It wieghs 208 Lbs.!! Put on a flywheel weight, Rekluse, Gnarley pipe, Turbine II, springs and revalve. The bike is sic:crazy:

I love it but I still love my 05 WR just as much. I have to ride a mile on streets to get to the fire roads and then 7-10 miles on gravel/dirt to the single track. The WR rules on the fire roads at speed. It also has the best suspension by far. The KTM 200 feels like a mountain bike compared to the WR. It also deflects and bounces out when the WR will track right through no problem. On big hillclimbs the WR won't stall. But in the woods the KTM is a slice and dice weapon.

So now I just ride both bikes. I switch every other day so they don't get jelous of each other and start running bad:thumbsup:

Unless my wife rides....

then she gets the WR for the fireroads and then steals the 200 when we get to the woods! What I'll do for love...

I have mine moto the 6 months, am to adore, has a strong engine and so lacked not to be so rude in low rotação.the only defect that me appeared was: spots in the aluminum frame, but so very small spots. but exactly thus I ordered a guarantee order. but of remaining portion I am super contented with moto, for me dont could have done choice better.

The last 3 times I rode with KTM's, we spent more time wrenching than riding - so I am partial to Yamaha - the '07 WR replaced my '99 WR and I love it - I paid the shop ~$150 for the parts and labor for the power mods before I picked it up - and Ive been very happy - it handles well, is light and fast for the riding I do - and I got ~ 55miles on 1 tank - while riding hard!

I heard the new motor was nearly vibe free goota be worth something , was the old motor not a shaker ?

The motor is pretty smooth

Now for my 2 cents

Having ridden the 06 I can tell you the 07 carries its weight significantly better. Leaning them over side to side they feel the same weight, but when you're moving the 07 feels at least 20 lbs lighter.

I cannot compare the power as the 06 was in a high state of tune (50 hp guesstimate).

The 07 gets a thumbs up from me.?
