Just thought I'd drop you all a line. Thought this would be right up your dual sport line.

I am heading out Monday to ride 650 miles of marked single track here in Michigan. Its called the Michigan Cycle Conservation Club Trail aka the trail safari.

This is a marked trail utilizing various trail systems to link it all together. It runs like an upside down U from west to east with a cross connector in the middle. Thats more like a Capital "A" isn't it...hmmmmm

There are 5 of from TT that are going on this ride (sndmn2, kzoo, tallboywrf, Rudy, and my YZman). We are thinking that it is going to take us 5 days total. We are all on dirtbikes converted to dual sport aka my CRF250X. We are camping right off the bikes. No veichle support. Should be interesting. Its looking to be around 150 miles a day at around a 15mph average.

We leave Monday morning and hope to be back Friday night / Sat Morning. This is going to be a loooong week but a fun one. I cant wait. I have been wanting to do this ride for years. Finially got a capable bike and people willing to do this with me.

Ill make sure to do a full write up with lots of pictures.

Wish us luck boyz.

Make sure you post a ride report when you're done. I'm from Northern Ohio and hope to take a week off work sometime in the next few years, and ride this trail. Sounds like an awesome way to spend 5 days.

Join the Michigan Cycle Concervation club
http://www.cyclecons...b.org/index.htm

They have three differnt Safari Packages. The U.P Safari and the LP safari, each is 1200 miles, and the MCCT Safari, which is around 800 miles.

You buy the safari package ( about $25 ) and you get all the info you need. Maps in pdf format to print and GPS coordinates, plus some other stuff.

I did the UP safari last year, its a great ride!

Im back. Man what a ride that was. 730 miles on the bike when I got home. I am exhausted. Started Monday and got home Fri night.

If you go to the Cycle Conservation clubs website there should be info on the safari package. The maps that they offer and the gps maps are the way to go. I cant imagine doing this without a gps. The gps saves so much time searching for the right roads. I ended up using the gps to locate the next turn and the maps to get an idea were we were. I ended up reducing the maps and having them laminated to fit into a cycoactive mapcase. Worked great. Definately get them laminated. Stuff is going to get wet.

Ill have a full writeup latter on that I will post here and hopefully that will answer lots of questions for you.

Right now I need a nap. I lost 12lbs in those 5 days riding. Man that was a mother of a ride. I am wasted.
