I have all the paperwork filled out.

03 XR650R w/ epa sticker
pink slip (clean, orig owner)
256 statement of facts
343 Reg form

Does the DMV fill out the page 2 of the 343 form?
Or can the auto club do it?

I also have the brake and light inspection.

I'd either like to find a DMV that knows what they're doing or a totally incompetent one . :D

Thanks!

The auto club can do the VIN verification (second page of 343). The critical thing is to get the correct box checked on the "Emmisions Label indicates" portion. It needs to have "Vehicle meets US EPA standards only" or "Vehicle meets US EPA standards and California standards" checked or no plate.

They are fairly clueless about this at the autoclub. You can do the whole thing at the autoclub. With a little coaching I think that you can get the correct box checked.

That sounds like some good advice. I think they are "vehicle ID inspectors", so that should work.

My sticker only says "meets 1997 california emissions for off-road vehicles".

Ok, now where can I get a sticker? :excuseme:

You can't. Find a buddy that is ANY type of law officer to fill out form 343 with the correct boxes checked, or get lucky (like I did :applause:) and have the DMV clerk give you your plate even when form 343 stated "meets Cal. OFF-highway emissions standards".

After I walked out, I went and bought a lottery ticket. Didn't work. C-Ya!!

Norco DMV. that makes sense.

A couple people told me Chino DMV, but there's not one there!

Norco is pretty close and in the area of probably the largest dirt bike riding population in So Cal.

Thanks for the info.

I'm going to Auto Club to get the 343 filled out.

I was thinking of ordering a CA Emissions sticker from an 03 XR650L ;)

(not sure if I can, though)

I second Norco... the inspector did not even try to look for the emissions stickers (CARB or Noise). :excuseme:

Good luck :ride:
