Has anyone out there dual sported an off road bike in PA recently? I have the applications and forms and want to DS my WR450. But I’d hate to spend the couple hundred it gets turned down by the state reviewer.
The way I read it is I’ll also need insurance prior to submitting the applications so I figure with the DS kit and insurance it’ll be an easy $500 - $700 just to apply.

If any of you in PA have done this in the recent year or so did you have any issues that prolonged or canceled your plans.

Thanks

Search on here for dual-sported WR. Some guy has a pretty extensive site about doing it on his own. I think you can do this for a lot less than $500. Liability insurance shouldn't cost you more than $80 a year.

What you're talking about is 'reconstructing' your title. My Brother-in-Law recently did his WR250F. Yamahas seem to be the hardest to accomplish this with because they stamp their titles OHV. It took him 6 months or so to get the thing done, and he'd still be waiting if it hadn't been for his State Representative getting involved and helping him. It would be easier with another bike, but if you're patient it can be done.

Im waiting for my plates right now. It was a pretty easy process but the state takes forever to return the plates. There isnt much to do after you have the pre inspection done for the paper work to go in. Add your signals, brake light switches, tires and all the other items have an inspection mechanic do the paperwork and sign the photos send it all in and wait.
If your going to do it do it now. The laws for a reconstructed title change in PA next year. The inspection mechanic has to have a different licsence from a seperate course to do a reconstuct. There will be fewer to do the pre inspection and cost will go up and the state will be scruntinizing them more closely.
