Buy a new one, you dont want to risk it leaking in the middle of a trip and having no gas halfway through it.

I saw the crack in my tank as the perfect opportunity to UPGRADE to a larger tank. :excuseme:

Due mostly to the proximity of the fuel tank to your family jewels I would not be so penny wise and pound foolish. Whats the worst that can happen you ask? Try putting your burning nuts out when your pants are soaked in gas :lame: :p :excuseme: :p :bonk: :busted: Buy a new tank and be safe :p :bonk:

Try soaking your nuts in gas even when they are not on fire. You would pay double the price of a new tank just to make the burning feeling go away.

Why does it hurt when I pee? :busted: The worst ever for me is when at the ripe old age of 6 my older brother and I were peeing behind a bush along side of a road, he said "I bet you can't pee over that fence wire" next thing I know I'm seeing stars and I can't move till all my muscles tighten and stop the flow of pee. :bonk: It was an electric cow fence! :excuseme: :bonk:

why not to try to fix it?
their are several options: plastic welding, epoxy glue, special glue for plastic.
buying new tank here (Israel) is very very very expensive (about400$).

Hey Mate,

Bad news for you, I had a crack in my tank

http://img.photobuck...dy/81d80a1d.jpg

I tried to use all the different products on the tank

http://img.photobuck...dy/IMGA1732.jpg

But nothing worked, I eventually just got Yamaha to replace it free of charge. I claimed that it was a stress fracture, or a fault on the tank itself, a few of us here in Australia have gotten new ones from them, even though I bought my bike second hand and its an 03 model :excuseme:

Try it! send us pictures tell us what you did. Maybe you should start by finding out excactly what that tank is made of ( what kind of plastic) before you start your research on how to fix it.

How about you try and buy a used one from someone who has upgraded to a larger fuel tank? Maybe E-bay

I did everything by the book when it said how to do it, but didnt last 15 mins out on the trails. it was only leaking a little bit, but bugger that, im not taking chances with my crown jewels catching on fire.
My next option was to get it welded, but got lucky and got it replaced free of charge

Its a two part epoxy you mix together and spread on whatever. Its not actualy welding, its more like realy strong glue.
