hello all and greetings from the DRZ forum!

i'm planin on selling my DRZ-sm
which i've raced for a year, and probably as of now,
get the 2003/4 WR450F.

i plan on trail riding, but mostly,
the end result would be also to motard it.

any thought and experience on the WR450 motarded?

many thanks.

Hi,

I use mine in Supermoto. It is a great all around bike. Done racing with it and had no problem even with 520 KTMs.

great..., just what i thought...

about that 520, yeah i even took a 570exc(big bored) with my almost stock DRZ-SM, but that's already a rider issue... :excuseme:

thing is, i'm hittin the limits of the DRZ-SM in it's current state, and in order
for me to grow beyond, and to be able to take podiums on our S2 class, i need a bike
like the WR450...

although most bikes there are MX450's, which are illegal here(no road approved)
i've decided, after reading a lot, and hearing from knowing friends
about the WR450F.

my other option is the KTM450EXC, but most peeps i've talked to preffered
the blue fella, engine and suspension wise.

i would love to hear some more, if u have'em, folks!

It is a pitty that they don't get the new DOHC engine, that thing is killer.

The WR is way heavier than the EXC, so that might be a big factor too.

Hey Nitronaf,
I am thinking of running a WR on the road and will do the sort of commuting that you do - without the track stuff though.

What sort of mileage do you have up and what sort of service schedule do you follow ? Any problems so far ?

i do roughly 35km of 80kmh(on 3 - 5am commutes im flat stick) freeway 30km of dense city riding in my commutes (daily)
change oil every 800 - 900km still looks pretty brown. filter every 2nd. check my fluidynes every oil change, tyre pressure
monthly
air filter clean, air box solvent wipe down, retorque - engine mounts/triple clamps/bar clamps/spokes, they seem to slightly loosen not much
bit early to tell but 6000km+ so far so good :excuseme:

im still trying to guess when to rebuild.......still no idea
